Secondary Schools

Wednesday After School Sport

Every Wednesday hundreds of students from four Gisborne Secondary Schools take part in a range of sports at venues around the city.

The Kiwisport funded programme is open to any high school that wishes to be involved. Currently Gisborne Boys High School, Gisborne Girls High School, Campion College and Lytton High School are taking part. Sports on offer each term will vary with the season and availability of organisers and facilities.

How it works

Schools finish at 2.30pm on a Wednesday to enable students to get to their chosen sport. Free buses are provided, returning students to Gisborne Boys High School at 5pm when buses to take the kids home depart for:

  • Makaraka / Patutahi / Manutuke / Muriwai
  • Bushmere / Ormond / Te Karaka
  • Wainui / Whangara
  • Kaiti
  • Gisborne City

We are always looking for volunteers. If you have an hour or two on a Wednesday afternoon and would like to help with a particular sport, please contact Regional Sports Director Steph Broughton.
