Valerie Johnston is the coordinator for Early Childhood at Sport Gisborne. She will work closely with Early Childhood Centres and the wider community. Their aim is to provide resources and help facilitate the physical activity, healthy nutrition and Healthy Heart Award programme, encouraging all children to become healthy in mind, body and spirit.

"By focusing at the Early Childhood level, we are keen to contribute to building the fundamental skill necessary for maintaining a physically active lifestyle with healthy food choices."

This project is a joint venture between Turanganui PHO, Ngati Porou Hauora and Tairawhiti District Health Board delivered by the Active Mokopuna team at Sport Gisborne Tairawhiti.
