Uawa SLSC & Uawa Tiaki Tai–Hinekura Waka Ama

Uawa Tiaki Tai is a community organisation that relies on the support of others (often voluntarily) to continue to function. It has been known as the Tolaga Bay Surf Club in the past.
We have created this page to generate more support both locally, regionally, nationally and internationally from those of our whanau who live here and abroad and to encourage everyone to get in behind us and support our kaupapa.

Wainui Surf Life Saving Club

Wainui is Gisborne’s oldest dedicated surf lifesaving club, formed in 1937, and we are proud to continue the underlying values established all those years ago. Our values: community service, volunteering, participation, development, team work, family, respect, responsibility, safety and high standards.

With its clean, glistening water and white sand – was a huge drawcard but its Pacific Ocean frontage and, at times, unforgiving seas ensured preserving and safeguarding lives became an early concern. The club evolved to provide a community service, sporting opportunities and a way of life that blended a healthy, outdoors lifestyle with camaraderie and solid family values.
