Bowel Cancer diagnosis packs purchased as a result of Titirangi Challenge fundraising

From 2018, Bowel Cancer sufferers in Tairāwhiti will each receive a kete of gas vouchers and specialist information, to provide support in their time of need. The initiative, driven by Fiona Shivnan, was made possible by the generous donations of participants in the 2017 Titirangi Mt. Everest Challenge. Sport Gisborne Tairāwhiti Events Advisor Debbie Hutchings says, “we are overwhelmed by the generosity of the Titirangi Challenge community. Their donations have made a truly special initiative possible.”

Significant contributions were made by Gisborne Pak N’ Save, and Ovation, which drove the total funds raised close to $5,000.

Each kete will contain $250 in petrol vouchers, to assist in the expensive travel costs for patients travelling for treatment, as well as a range of support resources for both the patient and their whānau, created by The Cancer Society.
